Wesley Snipes Gets 3 Years In Prison!

Pink reader YB from Tampa, FL just gave me the head's up that Wesley Snipes has just been sentenced to 36 months in prison for his 3 misdemeanor convictions of failing to file tax returns ... dayum!

Wesley Snipes was sentenced to 36 months in prison, Thursday. Snipes was convicted of three misdemeanor charges for not filing his taxes. Three years was the maximum sentence allowed. Snipes' defense team spent the morning arguing that he should not have to go to prison. Snipes appeared confident when he arrived at the federal courthouse Thursday morning. In the pre-sentencing report, the probation department said that Snipes' conduct could be construed as trying to obstruct the investigation. The report said that could be grounds to increase Snipes' jail time. Snipes had several character witness letters written by friends, including Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington.

Wow. The lesson here, folks, is to make sure you always pay your taxes or The Man is gonna screw you hard. I guess this means that we'll have to wait a little longer for Blade IV. See you in about 3 years, Wes. [Source]

I Saw The Sign

NIN.com has just been updated with a You Tube video of Trent Reznor signing the second of 2,500 Ultra-Deluxe Limited Edition Package booklets of the Ghosts I-IV 4-disc collection, which you can watch by clicking below:

Previously, Trent mused that he was considering posting a live web-feed of him signing all 2,500 copies ... I guess he decided it would be more prudent to film the signing of one booklet which could be watched 2,500 times. I am *thrilled* that I shelled out for this "super-ultra-mega-deluxe" edition of Ghosts ... and I *can't wait* for the announcement that will be made on NIN.com on May 5th! [Source]

Goody Goody Two-Shoes

Earlier this week we saw photos of Madonna's first born child Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon lookin' like a bad ass with her father Carlos Leon after the pair were reunited in NYC upon Maddy and Lola's arrival from London and today we see that the twosome aren't lookin' so tough any more:

The lavender is a nice color but it doesn't really instill the same sort of fear that black leather does. Still, Carlos's facial hair is a bit frightening ... and I bet he's packing a knife somewhere in that sassy outfit. Ah well, father and daughter do make a great pair ... I wonder if they plan to continue wearing color-coordinated outfits for the rest of their time together. [Source]

Cute Overload

X17 scored the cutest photos of 3 month old Harlow Winter Madden yet ... here are a couple pics of daddy Joel Madden carrying Harlow (in a cute little pink outfit) in LA this week -- look at that scrunchy little face!!!

I'm seriously dying ... this baby is just so stunningly beautiful. She is the perfect mix of both mama Nicole Richie and daddy Joel. I can't wait to see more!!! [Source]

The TV Guide: Takin' Care of Biz

Wee!! David arrived last night after I had a pretty bizzy afternoon of running around town taking care of last minute things before our weekend together. I think I picked out are pretty swank dress shirt and tie to wear with my suit to Gillian's wedding. It takes a real special lady to get me all dolled up in formal wear but I am very much looking forward to dressing up for the occasion. I know that David is going to look fly as hell so I want to make sure I look as good as I can. There are a few last minute things to take care of but I think everything's a go for G's big day Saturday.

I *think* the plan is for some of us go to Tiger Heat tonight. It's been forever since I've been and I've yet to check it out at its new venue at Avalon ... last weekend's SASS danceparty got me in the mood. Yeah, things are very quiet on the goss front today ... maybe folks are just too bizzy enjoying the beautiful sunny weather :)

Ferosh!

Tobey McGuire really turned on the ferocity as he made his grand exit from the Waverly Inn in NYC last night ... behold:

The face has a hint of Blue Steel in it, which is bold considering the sweatshirt looks like it's from the Hanes collection. Oh whatevs, you work it, Tobey ... fierceness isn't merely an overused and expired tagline, it's also a state of mind. You go! [Source]

Ape Shizz

New parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden came out for the grand opening party of the BAPE Store on Melrose Ave. here in LA last night and were joined by folks like Jermaine Dupri, Kanye West, N.E.R.D. and more. Here are a few pics from the opening night party:

Unfortch, little Harlow Winter was not in the hiz to partake in the festivities but a lot of other folks came out instead. For those of you who may not be aware, BAPE or A Bathing Ape is a Japanese clothing company that designs and sells "urban" and "hip-hop" style fashions usually made up of crazy colors and inspired designs. For the most part, I'm not all that into the BAPE look but they do tend to put out a few very cool pieces from time to time. You may recall I fell in love with the BAPE Batman Hoodie last Fall. The only BAPE store in the US before now is in NYC ...

But starting tomorrow, folks in the SoCal area can head out to their new store on Melrose to fulfill all of their A Bathing Ape needs:

So, if you've ever wanted to look "crunk" or dress pretty fly for a white guy, this is the store for you! [Source]

The Bald And The Beautiful?

Ruh roh ... can you guess which anger-prone celebrity supermodel seems to be having a hard time hanging on to her hair?

Click above to find out who it is

It's unclear exactly what the cause of this receding hairline is (which is strange cuz hair usually recedes from front to back not from side to side) but I imagine losing one's hair doesn't bode well for future success in modeling. Surely there has to be a hair weave to cover up something like this ... if not, there'll prolly be a lot more ass-whippin' in the future. [Source]

Ashlee Strings Ellen Along

Ashlee Simpson won't appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show until later today (along with David Beckham) but US Weekly got a sneak peek of what is in store on the show ahead of time and provides some deets. In totally unsurprising news, Ashlee continues to play coy about whether or not she is pregs ... but Ellen gave it her best shot to try and get some semblance of truth out of her. Here are a couple screencaps from Ashlee's appearance on Ellen:

Ashlee Simpson is still remaining tight-lipped on her pregnancy. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show (airing Thursday), the talk show host asked her flat-out if she were expecting. "Well, that has been going on for quite a while. That is definitely something that I choose personally not to discuss except for the fact that maybe ..." She then added, "Do I look like I had 10 cheeseburgers or something ... because I don’t think I do," before standing up. Pointing to a photo of Jennifer Lopez, DeGeneres then asked, "You’re not going to keep this answer up as long as this woman did ..." Laughing, Simpson replied, "No, I’m not. I swear. I promise you that. I give you my pinky on that."

Once they were off the baby topic, Ashlee went on to talk about her hubby-to-be Pete Wentz revealing the exact moment that she knew she wanted to marry him was, "when his jeans fit me ... I decided we could wear the same clothes." AWWWW so precious. My guess is that Ash ain't pregs but she plans on playing this little coy game until she gets pregs and then can finally confirm the rumor. This cockamamie scheme just sounds like something that Papa Joe Simpson would concoct in order to exploit the situation for gain. Blech. That being said, I'm still gonna tune in to watch Ellen today ... hello, Becks will be on and will be doing at least some bit of stripping on the show. I'm so there. [Source]

UPDATE: The Becks and Ashlee videos from today's Ellen DeGeneres Show are now online for your viewing pleasure ...

Phony Matrimony

Filming continues on the Manhattan streets set of Gossip Girl this week as various stars of the show (Kelly Rutherford, Blake Lively, Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester to be exact) were snapped in formal attire yesterday as the big van der Woodsen/Bass wedding was presumably being filmed at the Palace Hotel in NYC ... take a look:

This has to be the most talked-about show since Sex and the City where all the talking seems to happen before filming is even finished. I dunno why I'm so fascinated with the creation process of the eps ... maybe because the production crew is so cool with letting anyone take pictures; maybe I just like seeing how the process evolves to the final product in the end. It's kind of like a reality TV show ... we see the action getting filmed and then it gets processed and then aired on TV later on down the line ... except this fictional show doesn't look as fake as the reality crap that makes it to TV. In any event, when the wedding ep airs in a few weeks we can think back on this day when we got to see the filming actually taking place ... it's kinda like we're there. OK, not really but I think it's cool anyways. [Source]

UPDATE: Pink reader Brian sends in this short report regarding the GG wedding scene filming:

I thought I'd let you know that last night after seeing Sara Barillas downtown we walked uptown and passed the Palace Hotel at like 2am. Where Leighton Meister was hard at work filming scenes for the show. They were out all night, the wedding seems to be taking place in the court yard of the hotel, which we've seen on the show several times. Instead of walking down the isle they appear to be walking out of one of the restaurants and into the court yard to the procession ... However, we still don't know if a wedding actually takes place.

He's right ... we really don't know if they actually go thru with the wedding ... I guess we'll have to tune in to find out.

Vicki B. Hits The Bargain Basement

Victoria Beckham's designer jeans line, dVb, is having a hard time selling here in the US ... at the suggested retail price, that is. The next step in order to try and unload the warehouses full of dVb jeans is to ship them off to discount retailers like Loehmann's and sell them at drastically reduced prices. Here are a few pics of a batch of Vicki B.'s designer jeans with the prices already marked down and ready to be snapped up by thrifty shoppers:

Alas, how the mighty have fallen. This really doesn't bode well for VB's future as a fashion designer mogul. Sure, other big name designers have their excess wares shipped off for sale at TJ Maxxs, Rosses and Loehmann'ss but they do so at an extra profit, not in a last ditch effort to try and break even. Poor Vicki B. I'm sure she didn't really have in mind that her line of designer jeans would be sold at outlet malls and discount retailers all across mid-America. Good news for the folks in the rest of the country ... now they can get their hands on these fancy dVb jeans to wear to the honky tonk, the bowling alley or the karaoke bar -- that is if they can fit into her size Zero jeans. Dang, these things are *never* gonna sell! [Source]

What Are You Going To Do To End The Silence?

This Friday April 25th is the National Day of Silence which seeks to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools by purposely remaining silent for the duration of the school day. When I was the faculty advisor of the Gay/Straight Alliance at the private upper day school where I taught at in Grosse Pointe, MI, I helped orchestrate our school's participation in the Day of Silence. In the years since my teaching career ended, I continued to observe the Day of Silence right here on the blog, choosing not to blog for a portion of the day in support of those students who feel they are silenced by name-calling, bullying and harassment in school. I plan to participate in the Day of Silence this Friday as well, I will not be blogging for the duration of the school day (8:00 AM to 3:00 PM PT) as a show of support this year.

Lance Bass has recorded a PSA in support of the GLSEN and the Day of Silence which explains what the Day of Silence seeks to achieve ... here is his video message:

Additionally, The School of Social Justice will hold their Day of Silence event today Thursday, April 24th, followed by a Breaking the Silence assembly, which will kick off with an introduction by GLSEN President Kevin Jennings. Curtis Shepard, L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center Director of Youth and Family Services, and GSA Network representative Daniel Solis also will speak. The ceremony will feature performances and remarks by students, as well as Lance Bass's new PSA for GLSEN, a PSA from GSA Network starring Alec Mapa and a PSA for LAGLC featuring Bruce Vilanch at the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex - 322 S. Lucas Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. I am very excited that this event is taking place today ahead of the Day of Silence on Friday.

Openly gay actor TR Knight has signed on to attend the Breaking the Silence event today and Larry King has also filmed his own PSA, much like the one that Lance recorded ... this from E!'s Marc Malkin:

Silence will be golden tomorrow for T.R. Knight. The openly gay Grey's Anatomy star has just signed on to participate in the National Day of Silence ceremony at the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex in Los Angeles. Sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to help combat bullying and harassment of gays in schools, the day is marked by students across the country taking vows of silence during the day. This year’s 12th annual programming—most of which takes place on Friday—is dedicated to Lawrence "Larry" King, a 15-year-old California boy who was shot to death in February by a fellow student, allegedly because King was gay. I can also exclusively tell you that talk-show host Larry King is getting involved, too. Just last night, he took a break from his live coverage of the Pennsylvania primary to film a public service announcement for GLSEN and the Day of Silence.

Click HERE to watch Larry King's PSA. If you would like more information on how you might be able to participate in the Day of Silence this Friday for any further information on the event, head on over to DayofSilence.org. I realize that not everyone may be able to participate but just being aware of what is taking place and keeping an open mind for those of us who choose to participate will go a long way to helping raise awareness.
