Piece Out

Thank Gawd It's Friday ... the weekend is mere hours away from getting underway, my BFF Sarah arrived in LA late last night and we've got a lot of fun things planned for the weekend before we both fly back to Detroit for the holidays on Monday night. Despite the fact that the weather outside is frightful (ie. below 50 degrees in SoCal) and it's only gonna get more frightful back East (ie. temps. falling way below 30 degrees), I am still very much looking forward to being out on the town for the next few days ... but I'll get to all of that in due time. Let's get thru the day's goss so that the party can commence!!

News on the Britney Spears front is much more positive today (mainly because we are allowed to take a short respite from all her ridiculous court room drama and focus on something else) with new information and a short video clip of her new music video for her song Piece of Me. According to Britney.com, the full video will debut online tonight at 11:01pm (it doesn't specify ET or PT) after it is previewed on 20/20 earlier tonight. Here are a few screencaps from the short clip that was posted online yesterday:

Check out "20/20" Friday night at 10 pm EST on ABC to see the first look at Britney Spears' highly anticipated music video, "Piece of Me." It will be a part of a Chris Connelly report on the pop sensation and her relationship with the paparazzi. Yep, you read it right ... THIS FRIDAY NIGHT! Set your TiVo's if you've already got plans (or cancel 'em -- this will be a lot more fun!). PLUS ... Log on to Britney.com starting at 11:01 pm that evening to watch the entire video. You won't be disappointed, this one's gonna go down in history as Absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Having watched the clip a few times already, I am encouraged by the fact that Music Video Britney still bares some resemblance to the Britney Spears we came to love in the not-so-distant past ... she has *always* had the uncanny ability to clean up very well (tho, I suspect it may take a little longer to clean all of her spots these days) ... in fact, she looks even better than she did in her last video for Gimme More. It appears that the video portrays Brit Brit as a poor vicitim of intense media attention (much like the lyrics of the song does) without explaining that the media attention is a result of the hard-fought campaign to make her a star in the first place. I love the girl, I really do (prolly more than I should), but I find it very hard to believe that she really wants to be left alone by the paparazzi and the media at large. I contend the poor little lamb would shrivel up and die if people stopped paying her any attention. It seems clear that this "playing hard to get" music video is only the latest way for her to use reverse psychology to get exactly what she wants and desires. The girl is much smarter than most people give her credit for. [Source]

Blake Lively, the star of the hit CW teen-drama Gossip Girl (and only the latest starlet who is most probably desperate for any and all media attention she can muster in this, the early stage of her career), was on hand last night in NYC at the annual Solomon R Guggenheim Young Collectors Council Artist's Ball which was sponsored by Chloe and was thrown in honor of photographer Ryan McGinley. Blake showed up all by her lonesome, without any of her Gossip Girl cohorts, to party the night away at the Gugg ... just like a good Hollywood "It" Girl should:

It's not often that folks pause to take in the wondrous birth of a new star. It oftentimes feels like *poof* there's a new one and they immediately hit the ground running into superstardom. I seem to remember the last time I noticed a pre-star on the rise was when Hayden Panettiere came into my radar a couple of years ago. She was a minor Disney star or something like that and then she was seen hanging out with Paris Hilton (actually, she was getting pole dancing lessons from Paris ... which is really funny considering the Paris Hilton item that is coming later on in today's post) and I assumed she would be dunzo before she became anything. But, Hayden was smarter than I thought ... she didn't start hanging out with Paris and she quietly went about her biz and kept working as hard as she could ... then she scored the role of the indestructible cheerleader on a new show called Heroes and the rest is history. I can see how Blake Lively might follow that same path. Thus far, she has managed to stay away from trouble (ie. she hasn't been seen in Paris Hilton's proximity) and she is quietly being seen at events and on magazine covers as her new TV show gets more and more popular. Perhaps one day she'll bemoan the fact that everyone wants to take her picture and that she isn't able to got to Starbucks 45 times a day without a pap in her face ... but right now, she seems to be loving all the flashbulbs going off around her. Elsewhere in New York last night, Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Wonder Woman Lynda Carter herself and others were on hand at the Ziegfeld Theatre for the NYC premiere of National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets ... here are a few pics from th red carpet:

I shant go on again about how much I am DYING to see this movie because of the fact that I am a huge nerd and I really love watching the first movie over and over and over again and will merely remind y'all that the movie opens in theaters on December 21 and that fellow geeks can head on over to the official website to download desktop wallpapers, buddy icons and a screensaver to tide you over until the movie gets released. Okay, I'll shut up now. [Source]

Jennifer Lopez took her baby bump and her mother to FAO Schwarz in NYC on Wednesday presumably to pick up a few things for the rumored twins that are said to be incubating in her womb right now. Here are pics of a heavily bundled up J. Lo as she made her way out of the chic toy store and into the cold NYC streets:

Jenny from the Block was curiously light on shopping bags so either she had a lackey carry her purchases for her, she had her items delivered or she was just window shopping to get an idea of what to tell other people to buy for her baby(ies?). In any case, I can imagine that she is squealing with glee on the inside that she is finally able to shop for the child (children?) that she has always wanted. I wouldn't be surprised if J. Lo ended up squeezing those kiddies out of her loins in time for Xmas just so that she could enjoy the Xmas holiday the way that she has always dreamed she would. [Source]

Lindsay Lohan has apparently got herself a new man (thankfully, it's NOT music producer JR Rotem) and a new project to keep her mind occupied and hopefully out of trouble. Celebrity Babylon appears to have the full scoop on the new man in Lindsay's life (who has filled ex-Riley Giles's spot in record time) ... here is a pic of Lindsay in the recording studio where she has begun work on her new album:

Lindsay Lohan, 21, has been spotted kissing a "mystery man" around Los Angeles the past few weeks, and while the tabloids and Internet have gotten his first name -- ONLY Celebrity Babylon has EXCLUSIVELY the dude's last name and a bit of bio. First off, Lindsay met her new guy "through friends," according to our sources. His name? Spencer Guilbert. Date of birth: September 24, 1983. He's 24. He graduated from USC in 2005. His major: Poly Sci, he may also still be enrolled in Otis, an art school in Los Angeles. Born and raised in Malibu, he went to Malibu High School. Work: Spencer is a designer, and has a clothing line called Lord Royale, that can be found at www.lordroyale.com. One the one hand, I am extremely relieved that Lindsay's recent fraternization with JR Rotem appears to be strictly professional but on the other hand, is it really wise for L. Lo to jump into a new relationship so quickly after getting out of her last one? Could it be that her love for Riley Giles was so fleeting that their storybook romance can be washed away so quickly? Could it be that love in Hollywood is really this fleeting? Yeah, something tells me that Linds will be wiping her feet on this new guy in a short bit after she's finished with him, too. I am very happy to know that Lindsay is hard at work on a new album ... it should come as no surprise that I am a fan. [Source, Source]

Yikes! Do not adjust your eyeballs!! Here are photos of Paris Hilton wearing a ... gasp! ... wedding dress:

Thankfully, these pics are from Paris's new movie The Hottie And The Nottie wherein she stars as the object of affection for Nate, played by Joel Moore, who's had a crush on her since primary school ... but to win her love and affection, he must first find a boyfriend for her less attractive friend (which should be played her sister Nick Hilton, IMHO). You know, I realize that this wedding dress is merely a costume for a movie but I'm truly amazed that this blindingly white dress didn't burst into flames the second it touched Paris's body. Fake or not, wedding dresses know these things. [Source]

In further Paris news, the formerly reformed party girl seems to have gotten over the guilts of her imprisonment earlier this year and has decided to go back to doing what she does best ...

... tarnishing the Hilton name with every breath she takes. I'm not sure why but something tells me that it'll be quite a while before we see Paris Hilton in a real wedding dress. [Source]

Yesterday I posted a few pics of the new KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) car that will launch the reprise of the hit 80s TV show Knight Rider and today we have a pic of the new (and old) Knight Rider himself. Here are a few pics of the KITT car in action and of son of the Knight Rider, actor Justin Bruening:

TELLY fave Knight Rider is back with a new KITT – and it’s not a one Knight stand. The show returns in a two-hour US telly movie ahead of a new series – 20 years after it was axed. But David Hasselhoff, 55, will not be making a comeback with talking car KITT. Newcomer Justin Bruening, 28, plays the son of Michael Knight. Producers have created a state-of-the-art KITT to fight shape-shifting evil cars. I used to watch the original series all the time and I remember that they did make at least one TV movie after the show went off the air. The plot revolved around an additional KITT car (maybe it was female voiced? maybe it was evil?) and featured David Hasselhoff in his starring role as Michael Knight (I believe pre-Baywatch and still semi-sexy). As I said yesterday, I actually kinda like the new version of the NBC recycled show Bionic Woman (with my only beef being with the fact that they got rid of the "bionic sound") and I hope they can pull off this new Knight Rider TV show just as successfully (memo to NBC: keep the woosh woosh sound that emits from KITT's flashing red light on its hood). Blame it on nostalgia, but as much as the new 550 HP Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang KITT car looks cool and all ... I wish the new version was more in line with the original Pontiac Trans Am version. I guess we'll see if the new KITT has got a wheel to stand on. [Source]

Janet Jackson is back with a new single called Feedback (which hit airwaves this week and can be streamed in its entirety on her official website) and a new album called Discipline (which is due for release on February 26, 2008) ... she's also got a new hot body to help promote both the single and the album. In all fairness, this is Janet's old hot bod which she keeps in storage in between projects when she's off the clock:

This from the press release that came out the day her single hit the airwaves: International megastar Janet Jackson, who has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and is the newest signing to the Island Def Jam Music Group, has completed her first new single for the label with hitmaking producer Rodney Jerkins. "Feedback" will impact across-the-board at all radio formats on January 7th. DISCIPLINE, Janet Jackson's new album – and the 10th studio album of her career – is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 26th. In addition to Rodney Jerkins, the new album brings together an A-list of guest producers, including Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Stargate, Tricky Stewart, and The-Dream. DISCIPLINE was executive produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group. The release goes on to discuss the fact that Janet is currently starring in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? and fails to mention that her last album, 20 Y.O. was a pretty big flop (yes, yes, I realize that she's with a new record company but I think it's worth mentioning if only for purity's sake). Thus far, Feedback seems to be fairly popular with the pop music radio listener ... I've heard the song a couple of times and think it's quite good. It's no Umbrella or Gimme More but it ain't half bad. I really hope that Discipline is better than 20 Y.O. was ... if she gets rid of all those stupid talking segues/interludes it'll be 100% better by default. [Source]

A fully-clothed Kristen Bell is featured in the new issue of Co-Ed magazine ... here are a couple of pics from her photospread:

Much to my surprise, Co-Ed isn't a porn magazine .. who knew? Am I the only person who believed that this mag was an explicit magazine by the name alone? [Source]

Amazon.com has revealed that it was the high bidder that purchased the hand-written, one-of-a-kind (well, seven-of-a-kind, actually), never to be published book The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling at auction for $3.9 million bucks! Amazon plans on taking the book on tour to children's libraries, etc. around the country to give kids the chance to see the book for themselves (since it cannot be published in any other form). Here are a few amazing pics of the holy grail of children's books itself:

We're incredibly excited to announce that Amazon has purchased J.K. Rowling's The Tales of Beedle the Bard at an auction held by Sotheby's in London. The book of five wizarding fairy tales, referenced in the last book of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is one of only seven handmade copies in existence. The purchase price was £1,950,000, and Ms. Rowling is donating the proceeds to The Children's Voice campaign, a charity she co-founded to help improve the lives of institutionalized children across Europe. The Tales of Beedle the Bard is extensively illustrated and handwritten by the bard herself--all 157 pages of it. It's bound in brown Moroccan leather and embellished with five hand-chased hallmarked sterling silver ornaments and mounted moonstones. Enjoy these first images of the book. We'll be adding reviews of each of the fairy tales and more photos of this beautiful object as we can get them up in the coming hours (if you want to be sure of a link that will permanently work, use www.amazon.com/beedlebard). As for the public gaining access to the book, a spokesperson for Amazon says: "We as a business feel that JK Rowling has done a tremendous amount for child literacy in encouraging all age groups to read and bringing families together to read. We purchased the book as a thank-you, because the money goes to JK Rowling's charity. We are looking at a range of options but we certainly don't want to lock it away either in a safe or in a cabinet. We are keen that we get it out there for Harry Potter fans to enjoy. The one option that has already been discussed is taking it around schools for children to see and perhaps doing readings from the book." Fabulous! Again, I am amazed at how insanely popular reading has become for kids the world over. Shoot, forget the kids ... for everyone the world over. I am dying to read this book ... and I will be checking out Amazon.com/BeedleBard often to read the reviews of the 5 Tales as soon as they are posted. [Source]

Here are a couple of amazing international posters for the new Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight:

And here is a new domestic US poster for the movie which features the Clown Prince of Crime himself:

Pink reader Leslie sent in a You Tube video of the new trailer for The Dark Knight that will show in front of the new movie I Am Legend (which opens in theaters today) which has, unfortch, already been taken down. This clip was NOT the 7 minute preview of the movie that will show in front of I Am Legend showing in IMAX. The trailer should be online sometime soon ... but I wouldn't expect to see an official vid until after this weekend. [Source, Source]

UPDATE: Head on over to Mollygood to see the vid online ... while it lasts.

And finally, here are a couple of screencaps from an interesting video from Tori Amos's San Diego concert earlier this week. The way I understand it, Tori got angry at a couple of concert goers in the front row of the show and stopped mid-song to cuss them out and eject them from the theater ... click HERE to watch the video for yourself (advance to the 2:27 mark to see the fireworks):

The way I understand it, Tori noticed that a couple of girls snuck up and took the seats that were vacated by the actual seat owners (who were in the bathroom or something?) and got so angry that she had to stop and kick them out of the venue. Tori told them that sitting in the front row at one of her shows is a "privilege" for "people who appreciate music" ... and clearly the girls who got kicked out didn't fit the bill. Yeah, Tori Amos is a kind and benevolent Goddess but you do not want to piss her off. Wee! I can't wait for Sarah and me to see her again tomorrow night in Anaheim and Sunday night here in LA. [Source via dlisted]

UPDATE: NME reports that the folks were ejected because they kept getting up and down thruout the show and not for theifin' the seats. In any case, don't piss off Tori.

UPDATE 2: A rep from Tori's record label issued this statement about the incident: Tori doesn't sell front row seats to her shows. She'll pick fans that are in the back row and she will upgrade them. It is a privilege to get picked. Apparently these two girls were on their cell phones all night ... It was her sticking up for her other fans that missed out on the opportunity.

Les News:

So, after spending hours yesterday cleaning my apartment and watching lots of eps of Sex and the City (I'm near the end of season 3 already and I now get why everyone loves it so much ... it got really good near the end of season 2 and now I can't wait to see them all -- and why didn't someone tell me that Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar did a cameo in season 3?!? That alone would've got me to watch the show ages ago) I met up with Adriana last night to pick up Sarah from the airport. We went out to the Bright Spot for some food and conversation before calling it a night. I'm meeting up with the ladies later on this afternoon and then will be introducing Sarah to as many of my LA friends as possible at dinner. The weekend is here ... and there is lots to do. I hope y'all have a great one ... I am out.
