Slash & Burn-Out

Kevin Federline is featured in prolly the coolest and definitely the most interesting photograph I think I've ever seen of him ... shot by famed photographer Steven Klein, K-Fed appears dead-looking with his throat sliced open in a new exhibit titled Face of Fashion:

Klein likes to "deconstruct" not only what we expect from the particular subject but also the notion of what a portrait is. He says the National Portrait Gallery initially balked from exhibiting arguably his most shocking picture -- Kevin Federline, Britney's ex, with his throat slashed -- but "to me, a portrait is a representation of a person and a slash across a throat is the equivalent of a brushstroke". It wasn't a big deal for Federline to appear like this, says Klein nonchalantly. "It's like a classical painting. The slash, the make-up, is a mask that reveals who the person is. For me, the break in the skin shows that all portraits are lies. To see through the skin is to see someone's reality." The violence of the picture is made more intriguing when you consider what happened to Federline next: dumped by Spears and fast-tracked to public enemy number one. So lemme get this straight ... Kevin Federline is now art. He is the subject of a Steven Klein photograph ... just because he was dumped by Britney Spears? Huh. To tell you the truth ... I quite like this photo ... and not for the reasons that you may think. It is very interesting ... a great comment on K-Fed's fleeting celebrity. He looks almost Jesus-like if you overlook the cubic zirconium in his ear. Huh. Who knew that Kevin Federline could be interesting? [Source via Source]

Hot In Herre

As Fashion Week rages on, we find our dear Britney Spears roaming the streets of New York City lookin' for something to do ... one would expect a celebrity of Britney's caliber to be firmly planted in the front row of only the most chic fashion shows or at the hottest, most exclusive parties but ... no, that's not the case. Here are pictures of Britney emerging (coatless in the extremely freezing NYC weather) from club Tenjune over the weekend:

Can I say that she doesn't look that bad at all? Her hair looks a'ight and that gold top is pretty cute. I don't even mind the Star of David pendant so much any more. I believe there are tons of fashion shows coming up this week ... here's hoping that Britney gets an invite to at least one of them. [Source]

Meanwhile, her worse half Kevin Federline has been chillin' down in Florida where all the Super Bowl action was taking place this weekend. Pink reader Sacha managed to stumble upon The Federline and she snapped this photo to share will all of us:

According to Sacha: K-Fed was sitting all by himself in some unknown restaurant and was getting no love from the people ... No one even paid attention to him. Yep, which sounds about right. You know, I recorded and then flipped thru the entire Super Bowl game looking for his commercial and only found it way at the end, I believe in the 4th quarter, and it was the same commercial we've been watching online all week long. I thought for sure they would've aired an extended commercial ... or something. Overall, I felt that all of the commercials sucked. Truth be told, I was more entertained by the actual football game. Can you imagine? [thanks Sacha]

But while I was entertained by the game, I really loved the half-time performance that Prince put on. He looked pissed as hell that it was raining all over his show but he still put on a great performance:

Is it wrong that I didn't hate his little head wrap? Shoot ... if it was raining on your head you'd be wearing the same thing. I'm sure some people may have felt the show was predictable and maybe it was but you can blame Janet Jackson's boobie for that -- tho, Prince did manage to insert a little naughtiness in his show. I loved hearing the old classics performed live ... he sounded great. In case you missed the performance, or just want to watch it again, you can do so HERE. [Source, thanks Erica]

OH ... and much congrats to the Indianapolis Colts who handily defeated the Chicago Bears for supremacy this year as the Super Bowl champs!

Here are a couple pictures of the newly single Kid Rock also chillin' down in Florida rockin' his trademark coveralls ... and admiring a pair of jugs ...

Photo credti: Mavrix

... tho, prolly not the jugs that you're thinking of. How else is the man going to drown his sorrows over the loss of his most recent marriage to Pamela Anderson? [Source]

Um ... who in the hell let Danity Kane singer Aubrey O'Day go out in public looking like this?

Does Diddy know? He needs to find that person and fire the hell out of him/her. [Source]

My girl Mary Lynn Rajskub and others were on hand for the Rock and Republic fashion show that took place over the weekend in NYC ... here are a few pics from the red carpet:

I'm a big fan of the R&R and an even bigger fan of Mary Lynn so it's nice to see them both together. Carmen Electra was lookin' cute but she must've inadvertently left the backdoor open because Brandon Davis managed to squeeze his way in. Blah. [Source]

On the other side of the pond, celebs like Dita von Teese, Lucy Liu and Naomis Campbell and Watts were all on hand for the Mont Blanc Night Of Stars bash in France:

When a company that is famous for pens manages to attract celebs of this caliber, you know that they're something special. Generally when Bic has a party the only people who show up are your Brandon Davis' and your Tara Reids. [Source]

And speaking of Tara Reid ... here she is arriving at the Market America/Ocean Drive Super Bowl party over the weekend:

This time, it only took her 15 mins. to do a drunken assplant onto the ground. A new record, methinks! [Source]

Ew ... Jessica Simpson debuted a new look over the weekend when she made a spectacle of herself outside the Hyde nightclub here in Hollywood:

Booooooooooooooo! I think she needs to go back to the drawing board. She looks like a Cro-Magnon version of Mandy Moore. [Source]

In other news, Jessica has gone on the record to say that seeing her ex-husband with another woman so soon after their break-up really hurt her ... so I can't imagine that seeing pictures like this will do her much good:

It appears that that little spat that Nick Lachey had with Vanessa Minnillo is long forgotten. Long live La-Nessa! [thanks Paul]

Mischa Barton has truly gone to the dogs:

Her outfit is all kinds of horrible. LEGGINGS ARE OVER ALREADY! Please God, make it stop. [Source]

People in the fashion industry want you to believe that Kate Moss is the epitome of beauty. I want you to use your eyeballs and make that determination for yourself:

These photos were shot by photographer Corinne Day (one of the first photographers to work with Kate when she was discovered at age 14) and feature Kate sans make-up ... lookin' pretty scary. My point ... if Kate Moss can turn this into high fashion beauty than any one can! [Source]

IN EXTREMELY GOOD NEWS ... the first date of the new Tori Amos tour has been announced ... on Saturday, June 2nd Tori is scheduled to play the Grand Amphitheatre at Le Palais des Congres de Paris:

Head on over to Undented.com for a bit more information or click HERE to purchase tickets for this show! Woot! A new Tori tour ... I can't wait! Sarah and I will be working over time to get tickets to as many shows as we can. [Source]

And finally, in other amazing news, Nine Inch Nails have updated their official site by adding a new sub-site for their new album Year Zero:

The only information provided by the site is the album release date (April 17, 2007), the number of tracks that will be on the album (at least 17 songs, one of which is titled the beginning of the end) and these hidden pictures, presumably, of the making of the album Year Zero:

What an amazing day ... great Tori Amos and NIN news! Wooooooot!!!!! [Source]

Les News:
Yesterday was a pretty great day for me ... the temps. soared into the high 70s ... I even had to turn on the air conditioning in my car as I drove around town taking pictures. I was going to take pictures of LA landmarks but decided to just shoot graffiti and wall art. I snapped a few really great photos that look great in my 12-picture frame. I am so pleased. Here are 5 of the pictures I shot yesterday:

The top pic, the one that reads No More Heroes, is Banksy graffiti on Melrose Ave. All of the pictures I took came out great, I think :)

Temps. are lookin' to stay hot this week ... so I'm pleased on that account as well. Sarah tells me that the temp. in Detroit is prolly gonna go below zero this week. Boo.

My friend Diana is coming out to visit me this week ... so I have some things to take care of to prepare for her arrival. Happy Monday, y'all ... I hope you have a good one.

I'm out.
